Packing & Shipping a Watch

Please follow these directions to a T when packing and shipping a watch to Solana Watches. These steps are very important not only to protect the watch, but also for our insurance to cover the watch in case of an issue such as loss or damage during transportation.

  1. Make sure there is nothing floating loose inside the box (ie. links, tags, etc), or else it could scratch the watch during transport.

  2. Make sure absolutely nothing is in contact with the watch except for the box itself. Links and tags should never be able to be in contact with the watch. Links and tags should be stored in a small plastic bag in the back compartment of the box. If there isn’t any room for those, leave the tags and links outside the box.

  3. FedEx offers free paper or plastic envelopes. Place the watch box inside one of these envelopes.

  4. FedEx offers free shipping boxes. For Rolex watches, the following boxes will work, but feel free to pick larger boxes for larger watch boxes such as Omega, Patel, and AP. Put the watch box inside a Small S2 box. The S2 is too small for most watch boxes, so it will be bulging a bit, but it is normal and totally fine. We personally trim the top of the S2 box a bit and close it. The watch box should be really snug inside that S2 box. Place that S2 box into a Medium M2 box. If you don’t trim the top of the S2 box, it will be almost too big for that M2 box, so we really suggest trimming the top of the S2 a bit.

  5. Add tape to all seams of the box as the glue on these boxes is weak.

  6. Do not pack the watch inside FedEx or in your car on the parking lot to avoid getting attention.

  7. Do not tell anyone at FedEx what's inside the box.

  8. Drop off the watch at a real FedEx office (not an authorized shipping center like Shipporama or Mailboxes Station). It has to be a real FedEx office. We can help locate one near you, if necessary.

  9. Don't drop it off at one of the automatic DIY kiosks inside FedEx. If a FedEx employee directs you to the DIY kiosk or wants to do it themselves at a kiosk, insist on having them do it behind the counter. If necessary tell them “My boss says I cannot use these DIY kiosks for insurance reason”. They will oblige.

  10. Only drop it off with a FedEx employee, and ask for a receipt. Send us a photo of the receipt.

Again, following these instructions is crucial to get proper coverage in case of an issue during shipping. Our insurance wouldn't cover the loss of the watch if it was dropped off anywhere but a real FedEx office, and if the watch wasn’t packed as described using FedEx boxes.

We'd be happy to walk you through the process over the phone, if needed.
